{"id":2145,"date":"2026-02-09T17:10:44","date_gmt":"2026-02-09T17:10:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/civiltecnico.pt\/uncategorized\/inaugural-lecture-with-professor-tiago-ferreira-assesses-structural-vulnerability-and-seismic-risks\/"},"modified":"2026-02-10T09:54:50","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T09:54:50","slug":"inaugural-lecture-with-professor-tiago-ferreira-assesses-structural-vulnerability-and-seismic-risks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/civiltecnico.pt\/en\/ceris-en\/inaugural-lecture-with-professor-tiago-ferreira-assesses-structural-vulnerability-and-seismic-risks\/","title":{"rendered":"Inaugural Lecture with Professor Tiago Ferreira Assesses Structural Vulnerability and Seismic Risks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 10 February, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, Professor Tiago Ferreira\u2019s Inaugural Lecture will take place in Room 4.41 at DECivil, on the topic \u201c<strong>Structural Vulnerability and Damage Scenarios for Risk-Informed Decision Making.<\/strong>\u201d<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The seminar will address <strong>simplified and scalable methods to assess vulnerabilities and risks associated with natural hazards<\/strong>, with a particular emphasis on <strong>earthquakes<\/strong>. <strong>Physical vulnerability indicators<\/strong> will be explored and integrated into hazard, exposure, and damage scenarios, enabling the <strong>estimation of risk and losses<\/strong> at both building and urban scales. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Special attention will be given to the role of <strong>vulnerability and damage scenarios in pre- and post-disaster decision-making<\/strong>, including the identification of critical buildings, retrofitting priorities, and risk mitigation strategies, such as digitally enhanced and fragility-based evacuation planning.
