O CiTUA é uma unidade interdisciplinar de I&D sediada no Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). Inicialmente focada nas áreas de Território, Urbanismo e Arquitetura, expandiu-se desde então para incluir Ambiente, Governação e Políticas Públicas. O seu objetivo é estabelecer uma base de conhecimento, processos de coaprendizagem e coprodução que abordem diversos desafios contemporâneos. Isto envolve integrar conhecimentos especializados e incentivar a criatividade sobre a interligação de múltiplos fatores interdisciplinares na configuração das cidades do futuro.
