Professors Luís Guerreiro and Rosário Partidário, from the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment (DECivil) of Instituto Superior Técnico, were honoured by the Portuguese Order of Engineers at a ceremony held as part of the National Engineer’s Day celebrations in Porto.
Professor Luís Guerreiro was awarded the title of Counsellor Member of the Portuguese Order of Engineers, one of the highest distinctions conferred by the institution. This honour recognises professional excellence, dedication, and a significant contribution to the development of engineering in Portugal. It is reserved for engineers with a well-established career, extensive professional experience, and a relevant impact in their field of specialisation.
With more than two decades of academic and professional activity, Professor Luís Guerreiro has played a key role in advancing knowledge and in the education of new generations of civil engineers at Técnico. His contribution also extends to several scientific and technical initiatives, promoting innovation, structural safety, and the recognition of civil engineering in Portugal.
Professor Rosário Partidário was also honoured at the ceremony with the Specialties Award in the field of Environmental Engineering.
Both distinctions reinforce the prestige of DECivil and Instituto Superior Técnico, which have been regularly represented in the honours promoted by the Portuguese Order of Engineers, reflecting the quality and impact of their academic community.
