André Furtado, Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Environment at Instituto Superior Técnico, was recently awarded the Technical Excellence in Teaching Award.
With a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Aveiro and a PhD from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, he has been an Assistant Professor at Técnico since 2022, where he teaches courses in the group of disciplines of Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete Structures, actively contributing to the training of 1st and 2nd cycle students in Civil Engineering.
Proposed by the Pedagogical Council in 2012, the Technical Award for Excellence in Teaching aims to recognize and encourage pedagogical excellence. This highly prestigious individual award is presented annually on Technician’s Day, based on student evaluations, which distinguish these teachers with the highest grade (9 on a scale of 1 to 9) in all evaluation criteria defined by the course quality system (QUC).
